Southern Gaming Summit Partners With Tulane For Timely Conference Topics

BILOXI, Miss. (March 26, 2009) — Southern Gaming Summit has partnered with the Tulane University School of Continuing Studies to offer a Tulane Certificate of Attendance at the 16th annual Southern Gaming Summit. Set for May 6-7, 2009, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center, the Summit is the largest American commercial gaming conference and trade show held outside of Las Vegas, and provides an unmatched local voice for the industry.

The Tulane certificate will be presented to those conference attendees with validated participation in four Summit sessions: Customer Service as a Marketing Tool; National Economic Impact of Gaming; Managing Human Capital in a Downturn; and Loyalty Marketing in Tough Times.

“We are pleased to join with Southern Gaming Summit to offer this educational opportunity,” said Alan Silver, Director of Casino Resort Studies, Tulane University, School of Continuing Studies. “The topics we have chosen are of immediate concern to everyone in the gaming industry, and we hope the participants will take away a lot more than the Certificate.”

The National Economic Impact of Gaming session will provide an updated look at the gaming industry in today’s economy. Moderator Bobby Moak, Chairman of the Gaming Committee in the Mississippi House of Representatives will lead the session, which also includes Mike Cavanaugh, Special Counsel on Indian Gaming for the City of Biloxi; John Hairston, Chief Executive Officer of Hancock Bank and Chairman of the Mississippi Gaming Commission; Owen Nitz, Trustee for the IP Casino Resort Spa and President/Owner of Nitz, Walton & Heaton, Ltd.; Sebastian Sinclair, President of Christiansen Capital Advisors; and Robert Sturges, Chief Executive Officer of Nevada Gold and Casinos.

The other three Tulane sessions focus on operational issues such as customer service, marketing and human resources – all critical topics that take on even more importance during an economic downturn. More than a dozen speakers will share their knowledge and ideas, including executives from several casino/resort operations, educators and well-known advisors and consultants.

In all, the Summit includes a total of 16 hours of educational sessions, with other operational topics such as slot and table games, security and food and beverage in addition to sessions covering broader issues such as the political and financial outlook for the gaming industry and corporate social responsibility.

Plenty of networking opportunities are also available at the Summit, not only on the exhibit floor but through the Taste of the South reception and other events for attendees.

Clearly, the Summit’s unique mix of education, networking and southern hospitality make it a necessary event for anyone doing business in or interested in developing business in the region. It’s no wonder that vendors are reaching out with exhibit booths, sponsorships and advertising opportunities to reach this dynamic audience; contact Lesley Grashow at grashowl@bnpmedia.com for more information.
